Seaside colors and familiar summer pieces
Coastal Granddaughter
Coastal Granddaughter combines familiar summer pieces in pale seaside colors. Fine blue stripes, a long white skirt, flat tan sandals and a blue-trimmed canvas tote make this version, with loose sandy-blonde waves and lightly rosy beauty completing the relaxed look.
This original outfit follows the striped-shirt and long-white-skirt direction described in contemporary coverage. Each of the four selected pieces has its own product documentation.
History
In June 2024, Gabrielle Cabanes's Thread Magazine editorial linked the label to fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty. It described striped shirts, long white skirts, linen trousers, knitwear and marine accessories in a navy, pale-neutral and green palette. This establishes one contemporary use of the name rather than an independent long history for the clothes themselves.
What defines the look
The balance is between an easy shirt and a clear skirt waist. Rolling the sleeves and tucking the hem makes the fine stripe readable without turning the upper half into a stiff block. The skirt widens through smooth panels to a plain midi hem; its uninterrupted white surface gives the narrow blue lines room. Tan sandals add warmth, while the tote returns blue near the hand and lower skirt. Long loose waves, visible freckles and soft peach-rose cheeks give the face the same relaxed treatment as the clothes. The sandals stay flat and open, so a hem above the ankle keeps their straps visible. For a cooler day, use straight washed jeans with a compact cream crewneck and low trainers. Loose linen trousers, a plain tee and a soft cardigan make another practical version. Keep the same small palette and avoid loading every piece with nautical decoration.
Hair & styling details
Wear long loose waves with a relaxed near-center part and some fine flyaway strands. Leave enough hair away from the eyes to show brows and freckles.
Soft peach-rose blush, lightly defined lashes and a muted rosy lip echo the warm tan sandals. Keep the skin finish light and the brows softly shaped.

Build your own look
Pieces to start with
- Soft striped cotton shirt
- A straight cut allows room to move without a very stiff outline. Keep the collar relaxed and roll long sleeves only as far as they stay comfortably in place. A partial tuck can show the skirt waist.
- White A-line midi skirt
- A smooth waistband and gently flared panels give a different effect from a gathered or tiered skirt. Check pale fabric in daylight and look for lining if you prefer more opacity. Keep the hem clear of the sandal sole.
- Flat ankle-strap sandals
- Choose comfortable toe width and an ankle strap that holds without pinching. The illustrated pair uses plaited front straps and a low, flexible-looking profile; use the maker's care and fit guidance for the actual pair.
- Open canvas tote
- A structured cotton tote supplies a small practical color contrast. Match its size to what you carry and inspect the handle attachments; the illustrated medium bag has short regular handles and an open top.
