Cyber Fairy

Background
In Nasty Magazine’s interview for The Afterglow, designer Meg Beck includes cyber fairy among descriptions of their own aesthetic. Beck links fantasy to moss, flowers and plant structures, and discusses using found or vintage fabrics. The account records a designer’s personal language and practice. It does not establish the first use of the phrase or make every pastel, metallic outfit part of one historical movement.
What defines the look
The connection becomes clearer when beauty and texture participate in the outfit. Lavender waves, a fine lilac eye wing and small painted highlights give the face the same unreal color cast as the iridescent wrist cuff. A turquoise floral skirt supplies concentrated botanical detail; silver beads, a metallic bag and white platforms introduce harder surfaces. The plain rose-lilac tank leaves the decorated skirt legible. Nasty’s editorial also treats hair and makeup as part of the designer’s vision, but this figure, outfit and pose are original rather than a reconstruction of that shoot. The cuff is a separately credited DEVILISH design sold by 6%DOKIDOKI. Its purple spiral fastenings repeat the curves of the flowers, while the scale-textured band adds a small reflective surface beside the hand.
