Dadcore

History
Steff Yotka used Dadcore in Vogue's June 2017 coverage of Balenciaga's Spring 2018 menswear. The report connects its off-duty clothes with young fathers in parks. That is a dated runway interpretation of familiar casual clothing, rather than a first-use date for the garments.
What defines the look
The untucked polo sets the relaxed proportions. Keep its hem around the low hip, leaving enough of the trousers visible to show the pleats and straight legs. A two-button placket and one chest pocket provide restrained detail; cotton pique gives the otherwise plain blue surface a fine texture. The trousers can break slightly over the trainers without pooling around the heels. The cap repeats the navy accents on the white shoes. Their substantial soles balance the broad trouser hems, while loose hair at the ears and nape keeps the face from disappearing beneath the brim. A clean-shaven face, softly brushed brows and natural lips suit the unfussy combination. For a practical variation, use a sweatshirt already in the wardrobe with roomy chinos and low trainers. A striped polo with relaxed jeans offers another version: repeat one stripe shade in the cap or footwear, and preserve the easy fit through the chest and thighs.
