Gabber style
Also written Gabber fashion
Gabber style draws on the tracksuits and trainers associated with Dutch hardcore music and dance. A violet-and-black track jacket, white tee, loose black track pants and Air Max BW trainers form this contemporary interpretation.
Gabber is a living music and dance culture. Clothing is one visible part of it, and its shapes, brands and grooming have changed over time. This guide assembles later product references into a new outfit rather than recreating a 1990s photograph.
History
Design Museum Den Bosch connects gabber with the fast, distorted sound that developed in 1990s Rotterdam, and describes the scene’s adoption of Italian Australian L’Alpina sportswear. The Dutch intangible-heritage inventory records clothing, dance and social connection together, including Australian track pieces and Nike Air Max BW shoes.
What defines the look
The Dutch heritage inventory documents gabber through its music, dance, sportswear and changing appearance conventions. The museum connects Australian tracksuits with the scene. In this contemporary outfit, violet and black jacket panels carry the visual energy above loose black track trousers; the white tee and purple-accented trainers repeat the lighter areas. A high ponytail leaves the neck clear and gives the sportswear a sense of movement.
Hair & styling details
Pull long hair into a high ponytail, leaving a soft sweep at the front. The lifted shape keeps the track-jacket collar and shoulder panels visible.
A close dark lash line and a soft neutral or rose lip work with the vivid jacket. Keep cheek shading gentle so the face stays clear beside the large color blocks.
An illustrated outfit study
One way to put the pieces together
Violet shoulders and sleeves frame a white tee above loose black track pants. The white and violet trainers repeat the jacket palette in this original four-item combination. The illustration interprets visible details; it cannot establish hidden construction.

Build your own look
Pieces to start with
- Colour-block track jacket
- A stand collar and elastic hem keep the jacket compact. Try it over the tee and lift both arms to check that the shoulders and sleeves have room.
- Plain sportswear tee
- A white crew neck separates the darker jacket panels. Keep the hem short enough to sit comfortably over the elastic trouser waist.
- Relaxed track pants
- Look for room through the hips and knees with an ankle cuff that sits gently. Check the hem while moving so it does not get caught beneath the shoe.
- Air-window trainers
- The white, black and violet shoe panels echo the jacket. Choose footwear for your own fit and intended use; this drawing does not test dance performance.

Ways to put it together
Styling suggestions from Coreification.
- Illustrated outfit: violet-and-black Australian track jacket + white Nike crew-neck tee + black Australian Archive Smash pants + white and Persian Violet Air Max BW trainers. Keep the tee visible at the open jacket front.
- A quieter variation: a single-colour track jacket + a plain tee + straight jeans + trainers. Repeat one small shoe accent in the upper layer.
- Easy wardrobe adaptation: combine a sports jacket and loose trousers you already own, then add comfortable trainers. Start with freedom to move and a clear two- or three-colour palette.
