Hime Gyaru
Hime Gyaru builds a princess silhouette through high curled hair, roses, lace and carefully enlarged eye makeup. This black-and-ivory version uses rose-print fabric, sheer lace sleeves, two rose hair ornaments and a double-strand bow necklace, with matching floral wedges.
An original four-piece Jesus Diamante outfit with beauty styling informed by documented Hime Gyaru looks from the late 2000s and early 2010s.
History
A 2009 account by maker Violet LeBeaux describes sewing a Jesus Diamante-inspired dress. Tokyo Fashion’s July 2012 Shibuya portrait records a Hime Gyaru wearer with elaborate curled hair, flowers, lace and decorated accessories. Together they document both handmade interpretation and the detailed street styling associated with the look.
What defines the look
The hair and eyes are as important as the dress. Build visible height at the crown, then let long ringlets frame the face and shoulders. Large rose ornaments should sit within that volume rather than flatten it. Defined upper and lower lashes, bright inner-eye accents and pink cheeks carry the ornate clothing into the portrait. The selected dress offers a black rose-print route: ivory sleeves lift the dark center, while a short double necklace fills the neckline. Its gentle A-line skirt stays lighter than a heavily supported Lolita bell shape. Repeat the rose print at the feet so the outfit feels deliberately coordinated.
Hair & styling details
High honey-blonde crown volume, long defined ringlets and full bangs create the main Hime silhouette. Place the rose headband into the bouffant and separate several front curls so the necklace can show.
Use a clear dark upper lashline, longer outer lashes and distinct fine lower lashes, with a pearly lower-eye accent. Pink cheeks high on the face and softly glossy rose lips complete the doll-like styling.
