The Guardian Nigeria discussed iro and buba among continuing Yoruba occasion styles in June 2024, within an article about aso-oke. An independently inspected Design for Love set shows another current fabric direction: a relaxed buba, easy-tie iro and matching headwrap in hand-dyed cotton.

What defines the look

The blouse and wrapper remain separate garments, even when their fabric matches. Keep enough ease through the blouse to preserve the broad sleeve shape, and arrange the skirt so its overlap stays secure when sitting. The headwrap can repeat the outfit’s colour without requiring an exact knot or height. A maker’s particular print is one design choice, not a general symbol for all Yoruba clothing.
