Collar detail, rounded volume
Qi Lolita
Qi Lolita combines a supported Lolita skirt with details associated with qipao, especially a standing collar, ornamental frog fastenings and patterned fabric. The result can be dark and graphic or softly coloured, but the short, rounded skirt remains central. Let the neckline establish the reference before adding more decoration.
An established hybrid label used within Chinese Lolita fashion. This guide concentrates on the qipao-influenced collar and closure branch; its boundaries with other Chinese-inspired Lolita categories can overlap.
History
Zhao’s study, based on fieldwork in China during 2021–2022 and published online in 2025, discusses Qi Lolita within Chinese interpretations of Lolita. The current retailer set provides an observable example, without establishing when that particular design first appeared.
What defines the look
Treat the outfit as contemporary fashion. Select specific garment details and credit their makers; colours, flowers and tassels do not automatically carry a single cultural meaning. The wearer can choose a simple hairstyle and small accessories while keeping the collar and skirt clearly visible.
Hair & styling details
A neat fringe with two compact braided buns keeps the collar visible; short hair can be tucked behind the ears.
Softly defined eyes and a muted red lip echo the palette without competing with gold fastenings.
An illustrated outfit study
One way to put the pieces together
A black-and-red Qi Lolita coordinate with the standing collar and cord fastenings kept visible above a supported skirt. The illustration interprets visible details; it cannot establish hidden construction.

Build your own look
Pieces to start with
- Standing-collar bolero
- Choose a cropped layer with a clear upright collar and visible loop fastenings. Keep the neckline comfortable and the front open enough to show the dress underneath.
- Panelled full dress
- A contrasting bodice and divided overskirt make the layers readable. Repeat one colour through the chest, lower skirt and a small accessory rather than adding unrelated patterns.
- Supportive petticoat
- Match the support to the skirt’s shape and length. It should lift the hem evenly without pushing the waist upward or extending below an intentionally clean edge.
- Strap shoes
- Rounded shoes with secure straps balance the decorative neckline. Low heels work well for a daytime coordinate; keep socks simple when the skirt already has embroidery.

Ways to put it together
Styling suggestions from Coreification.
- Daytime: black stand-collar bolero, red-and-black full dress, moderate petticoat and low black strap shoes with plain ankle socks.
- Light variation: ivory collar blouse, pale patterned skirt with matching waist bow, rounded petticoat and cream Mary Janes.
- Evening coordinate: dark jacquard dress, short frog-fastened capelet, opaque tights and polished ankle boots; use one floral hairpiece.
