History
ASU FIDM Museum connects the growth of resortwear with beach and lounging pajamas popular on the French Riviera during the late 1920s and 1930s. Its circa-1935 silk example belongs to a wider leisure wardrobe that also used linen and cotton. The museum describes how clothes intended for travel and relaxation became a distinct fashion category. The illustrated shirt and trousers develop that relaxed approach through current separates.
What defines the look
Let the shirt hang easily from the shoulders. Its curved hem works untucked, while a few loose sleeve rolls expose the forearms without making the upper body feel formal.
