Brown canvas, a boxy tee and broad indigo denim
Streetwearcore
Also written Streetwear
Streetwearcore combines casual layers, loose proportions and a strong sneaker shape. Work jackets, graphic tees, hoodies and baggy denim give it a broad everyday vocabulary. This skate-influenced outfit uses a short brown canvas jacket, a plain off-white tee and wide indigo jeans over padded black-and-white shoes.
A workwear-and-skate branch of streetwear, with a short outer layer and broad denim legs.
History
Streetwear grew through the exchange between hip-hop, skateboarding and other youth scenes. PBS traces that meeting through designers, shops and the young people wearing the clothes. Carhartt WIP records its own adoption by rappers and graffiti writers in the early 1990s and the launch of its skate and BMX teams in 1997.
What defines the look
The short jacket and broad jeans create the main proportion. Wear the jacket open to show a strip of off-white cotton through the center and below its hem. A dark corduroy collar and a small chest patch give the canvas just enough detail, while the jeans stay dark and plain. Their pale stitching traces the curved pockets and long seams. Let the trouser hems gather lightly over the padded tongues of the sneakers. The white laces and broad side stripes repeat the tee color, connecting the upper and lower halves. A loose dark fringe keeps the face relaxed. A graphic tee can replace the plain one, or a hoodie can replace the jacket layer; preserve a clear shoulder shape and enough width through the trousers to balance the shoes.
Hair & styling details
Loose short dark waves with a forward fringe suit the relaxed layers. Keep some lift at the crown.
Use natural brows, softly defined lashes and a neutral lip. The clothes and sneakers carry the strongest contrast.
