Tatreez Corsetry
Tatreez Corsetry brings Palestinian cross-stitch embroidery into a structured, fitted bodice. The concentrated stitched panel contrasts with a flowing tiered skirt. Here, an ivory corset and white cotton skirt meet black penny loafers and small gold hoops for an original contemporary outfit.
Proposed label: Coreification uses Tatreez Corsetry for this specific contemporary combination. Tatreez is an established Palestinian embroidery practice; the label describes an adaptation, not a separate historical costume or a uniform for Palestinian women.
Background
Vogue Arabia documented British-Palestinian designer Leena Sobeih’s embroidered wedding corset in June 2025. Her studio also offers custom tatreez corsets. Together they provide a dated personal example and a garment reference, without establishing a mass-market trend.
What defines the look
Sobeih described embroidery as a way to maintain a connection with Palestinian heritage. The craft’s significance is part of the outfit, rather than an interchangeable surface decoration. Seek makers who identify their embroidery and credit its context. This illustration uses a fictional wearer, an independently chosen skirt and everyday shoes; it does not recreate her wedding. The precise motif and ribbon placement are interpreted in pencil.
Hair & styling details
Soft shoulder-length curls pinned back at one side expose the embroidered straps. This grooming choice belongs to the illustration, not to the craft.
Muted berry lips, softly defined brows and light kohl echo the red thread without competing with it. Makeup remains optional.
An illustrated outfit study
One way to put the pieces together
The maker’s ivory embroidered bodice is paired with a longer independently selected tiered skirt, low black shoes and compact hoops. The illustration interprets visible details; it cannot establish hidden construction.

Build your own look
Pieces to start with
- Tatreez corset
- Look for visible cross-stitches and supported seams. Choose a comfortable fit that lets you sit and breathe; the shaped bodice does not require extreme waist reduction.
- Tiered cotton skirt
- A smooth hip panel keeps the corset edge clear. Soft gathered tiers supply movement below it; check lining and hem clearance in daylight.
- Black penny loafers
- A low leather shoe gives the pale volume a clear base. Keep both the apron seam and a little ankle visible beneath the skirt.
- Small gold hoops
- Compact rounded hoops provide a subtle face-level highlight. Their scale leaves the embroidered straps and central panel easy to see.

Ways to put it together
Styling suggestions from Coreification.
- Illustrated outfit: ivory tatreez corset + white tiered ankle skirt + black penny loafers + small gold hoops. Keep ribbons separate from the skirt gathers.
- Evening variation: embroidered structured bodice + a plain full midi skirt + low slingbacks. Repeat one embroidery colour in the footwear.
- Practical adaptation: layer a comfortable corset over a simple cotton shirt, then add a skirt and flat shoes you own. Leave the central embroidery unobstructed.
