In his Highsnobiety interview, ACRONYM designer Errolson Hugh describes bringing experience from snowboard clothing into garments for daily life. He connects the work to movement, the objects people carry and the technology around them. His account places the company's legal formation in 1999 and its first product release in 2002. What defines the look
Hugh also discusses martial arts and science fiction as influences on his approach to clothing. These help explain why physical ease and a futuristic visual mood can coexist. For the wearer, the practical questions are immediate: can you reach your phone, bend your knees and manage changing weather? REI distinguishes the surface treatment that encourages water to bead from the laminate or coating used in waterproof rainwear. A dark color and visible zips establish neither.
