Blokette

History
In an August 2023 interview with Coveteur, Nymphet Alumni co-host Alexi Alario said she had coined Blokette in October 2022 while discussing playful ways of wearing vintage sportswear. The name combines bloke and coquette. Sarah Spellings's December 2023 Vogue review also described the label through football clothing paired with ribbons and skirts. These reports document a period of online naming and discussion; they do not establish that mixing sport and decorative dress began then.
What defines the look
The contrast comes from keeping both clothing vocabularies visible. A jersey contributes bold color, shoulder stripes and a sporty neckline; a floating skirt changes the movement beneath it. In this outfit, ivory gauze and geometric lace sit below a small front tuck, and one satin bow repeats the light skirt color. The sourced jersey is a generic training-and-match design. - Football or track top
- Start with a visible shoulder stripe, badge, collar or color block. Check the width and hem against the skirt or trousers. A small front tuck can reveal the bottom layer without folding away every sporting detail.
