This guide follows the contemporary Blokecore label: football-shirt graphics with relaxed everyday trousers and low trainers. The illustrated Adidas Originals jersey uses its own badge design rather than a club or national-team crest.
History
Football shirts already had a substantial life as design objects and everyday clothing before the online label. The National Football Museum's 2019 STRIP! exhibition brought together more than 200 shirts to examine their relationship with fashion, technology and supporters. By May 2022, Danai Dana was reporting on Blokecore for MR PORTER: an internet trend combining football jerseys with jeans, tracksuits or shorts and low trainers, drawing on earlier football and Britpop imagery. That recent naming should be distinguished from the longer histories it borrows from.
What defines the look
Football shirts carry distinctive collars, crests, sponsor marks and season-specific designs. Those graphics usually become the focal point when the shirt is worn with plain denim. This outfit uses a football-inspired Originals shirt, a straight stonewashed leg and slim gum-soled trainers, with a simple canvas tote. Blokette develops a different contrast by pairing sportswear with skirts, bows or delicate trim.
Hair & styling details
A loose fringe or softly tousled waves suit the relaxed jersey. Keep enough of the white collar visible to frame the face; finger-combed texture works well with the casual layers.
Keep the finish uncomplicated: brushed brows, a natural lip and lightly defined eyes let the shirt graphics lead. A small amount of styling cream can give the hair movement without a rigid shape.

Pieces to start with
- Football jersey
- Make the collar, sleeve width and graphic placement the focal point. Check the actual shirt measurements; a relaxed shape should still let you move comfortably. A team badge has a specific meaning, while a generic sports design offers another route.
- Straight everyday trousers
- Try a straight denim leg that gives the jersey enough room above it. Compare the hem with your shoes while standing and walking. Deep stacking, a neat break or a small turn-up are styling choices rather than requirements.
- Low trainers
- A narrow leather-and-suede trainer keeps a full shirt and straight jeans visually grounded. Look at the toe overlay, sole height and condition of the lining when shopping secondhand. A named shoe model is optional.
