Background
Nippon.com traces city pop from 1970s Japanese musicians through early-1980s mainstream success and later rediscovery. Light in the Attic’s Pacific Breeze releases connect that music to a range of AOR, R&B, funk and other influences, and credit Hiroshi Nagai’s resort illustrations.
What defines the look
The album imagery supplies a mood of light, space and leisure; it does not identify a single wardrobe. A low-contrast botanical print translates that atmosphere into cloth while a tucked waist and polished loafers keep the outfit city-ready. PARCO’s dated 1980s street archive offers broader clothing context and shows substantial variation. This interpretation uses contemporary products with period-friendly proportions: an open short-sleeve collar, a high trouser rise and a loose full-length leg. City Pop Prep takes a different route through pastel polos, short hems and compact knit layers. Here the long trouser line is the main feature.
