Punk brings altered clothes, hard hardware and forceful graphics into everyday dress. This version sets a motorcycle jacket over a plain tee, with red plaid trousers and black lace-up boots. History
Punk developed around music and youth cultures during the 1970s. The Met's PUNK: Chaos to Couture exhibition places New York and London alongside one another and follows DIY methods into later fashion. In London, the V&A documents Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren's work at 430 King's Road: the shop became SEX in 1974 and Seditionaries in 1976.
