Ruana Layering
Ruana Layering puts a broad Colombian shoulder wrap over simple, relatively close-fitting separates. Open sides, a generous fall from the shoulders and visible woven texture give the outfit its shape. The ruana can hang evenly or fold across the body without the fitted sleeves of a coat.

A March 2024 El Diario Boyaca feature highlighted designers bringing the ruana into contemporary fashion. That visibility builds on an existing Colombian garment tradition; it does not mark the ruana's invention or make every shoulder wrap Colombian.
