Woven pattern, relaxed tailoring
Seediq Jacquard Denim
Seediq Jacquard Denim places patterned denim at the centre of a relaxed, tailored outfit. A roomy blazer or coat carries the woven geometry, while plain underlayers and loose trousers provide breathing room. The strongest combinations make both the textile surface and the garment’s shape easy to see.
Proposed label for the styling direction documented in DYCTEAM’s collaboration with Seediq weaver Seta Bakan. It describes this named contemporary collection, rather than all Seediq clothing or every geometric denim garment.
Background
For Taipei Fashion Week’s Spring/Summer 2023 opening show, presented in October 2022, Seta Bakan and DYCTEAM designer McFly Cho developed a dialogue between Seediq handweaving and machine-jacquard denim. Published runway photographs show patterned tailoring, generous trousers and coordinating bags.
What defines the look
Keep the collaboration credit attached to the textiles. A maker’s account can explain a particular pattern; visual resemblance alone cannot establish its meaning. For an everyday wardrobe, start with one attributed patterned piece and use existing plain clothes to support it.
Hair & styling details
A low ponytail, side part or close crop keeps the lapels and shoulders clear.
Natural brows and a muted lip work with the cool denim palette; the clothes can provide the visual emphasis.

Build your own look
Pieces to start with
- Jacquard denim blazer
- A broad lapel and slightly dropped shoulder give a large textile pattern enough space. Wear the jacket loose through the torso so the cloth can fall rather than stretch across the buttons.
- Plain dark underlayer
- A compact black knit keeps the collar area quiet. Choose a weight that fits beneath the jacket without bunching at the shoulder or pulling the sleeves.
- Loose tailored trousers
- Roomy straight legs echo the jacket’s width. A clean hem near the boot top gives the lower half definition; avoid stacking heavy folds over the feet.
- Substantial lace-up boots
- A rounded toe and visible sole balance the scale of the jacket. Keep the leather smooth and decoration minimal so the textile remains the outfit’s main detail.

Ways to put it together
Styling suggestions from Coreification.
- Everyday tailoring: patterned denim blazer, black high-neck knit, loose black trousers and lace-up ankle boots.
- Lighter layers: jacquard overshirt worn open over a white tee, straight dark jeans and plain low trainers.
- Coordinated statement: patterned denim jacket and matching roomy trousers, a solid crewneck underneath and one unpatterned bag.
