Space Agecore draws on the sharp shapes and material experiments of 1960s futuristic fashion. This modern outfit makes a linked silver mini skirt the focal point, then gives it a clean white tank and ankle boots. Opaque black tights set off the separate circular pieces and keep the outline easy to read. History
The V&A describes how Andre Courreges developed angular clothes in white and silver during the mid-1960s, pairing them with accessories that suggested space exploration. Pierre Cardin also experimented with new-looking surfaces and bold fastenings. Paco Rabanne approached construction differently: a 1969 dress in the Met collection joins black cellulose-acetate discs with small metal rings. That object provides a precise precedent for clothing assembled from repeated components. The selected contemporary Rabanne skirt uses silver-finished discs with a polyester composition listed by its maker; it should not be described as the museum dress or as solid metal.
What defines the look
Repeated circles make the skirt's construction the focal point. A plain mock neck gives that moving surface room, while opaque black tights create dark spaces behind the links and a continuous line down to the white boots. Courreges' angular tailoring and Rabanne's linked components offer different approaches to futuristic dress. This combination concentrates on the latter, using a small white, silver and black palette. Keep the top smooth at the waistband, and check the linked skirt's gaps and movement over the chosen underlayer.
Hair & styling details
A swept platinum pixie gives the head a clear rounded outline above the upright neckline. Keep the forehead open and the sides close enough to show the collar.
