Everyday clothes with one unexpected detail
Indiecore
Indiecore gives everyday clothes character through a distinctive print, tactile fabric and easy proportions. An aqua aircraft shirt, dark-brown cord trousers, parchment canvas shoes and black tote form this version, with a loose chestnut shag and a fresh clean-shaven face.
This guide follows the patterned casual direction described in contemporary retail use of Indiecore. The four separately documented pieces create an original outfit centered on one print.
Background
Starin used Indiecore in an August 2025 retail article about nostalgic prints, earthy colors and eclectic casual clothing. Run & Fly also describes the selected aircraft shirt through indie styling. These are specific commercial uses of the term; the sources do not establish a single founder or first-use date.
What defines the look
The shirt is the focal point. Pale clouds and small dark aircraft make an unusual all-over pattern, while the pointed collar and chest pocket keep the shape familiar. Wear its curved hem loose over regular straight trousers so the fabric has room to move. Dark-brown fine cord adds texture without adding another large motif. Parchment canvas shoes pick up the clouds in the shirt. Their low rounded rubber toes and narrow colored sole lines provide a small contrast at the hem; a slight trouser break keeps the outline relaxed. The black canvas tote repeats the darkest print color and keeps the rest of the outfit quiet. A loose ear-and-nape-length shag, soft fringe and clean-shaven face fit the youthful everyday direction. For an easy variation, wear a patterned shirt with straight jeans and familiar canvas shoes. In cooler weather, use a textured cardigan over a plain tee, then repeat one knit color in the bag or footwear.
Hair & styling details
Let a loose shag frame the ears and nape, with a light side-swept fringe. Keep enough space around the pointed collar to show the print.
Softly brushed brows, a clean-shaven face and natural balm-finished lips keep the face fresh beside a busy shirt.

Build your own look
Pieces to start with
- A print with a personal point of interest
- Give one unusual all-over print room to show. An untucked short-sleeved shirt with a pointed collar provides an easy outline.
- Quiet textured trousers
- Choose dark fine cord with regular straight legs. Its quiet texture supports the print without another large motif.
- Simple canvas shoes
- Pale canvas low-tops repeat light areas in the shirt. Keep the finished trouser hems close to the low shoe opening.
- An everyday carry bag
- A plain black canvas tote repeats the darkest print shade. Short handles allow it to sit beside the trousers without covering the shirt.

Ways to put it together
Styling suggestions from Coreification.
- Aqua aircraft-print shirt + dark-brown straight cords + parchment canvas low-tops + plain black tote.
- Practical variation: a favorite printed shirt + ordinary straight jeans + canvas shoes, repeating one print shade in a bag.
- Cooler layers: textured cardigan over a plain tee + straight trousers + low shoes, keeping the cardigan as the main color detail.
